Description
This wiper blade assembly is durability tested to the equivalent of 10-years/150,000 miles lifetime for passenger cars and light trucks.
- Wiper assemblies designed to meet strict Ford Engineering standards for performance and durability.
- Rigorous tests ensure proper performance and a long life and include: Cleaning quality measured and assessed for 500,000 wipe cycles.
- Wiper assemblies undergo 1.5 million cycles to test for noise, looseness or deformation.
- Assemblies are rejected if they make excessive noise, scratch the windshield, break or become distorted during testing.
- Blade force on the windshield is tested for both force and load distribution across the glass area.
- Wiper assemblies are heat-soaked at 176 degrees F for over 100 hours to ensure the assembly's set does not crack or deform.
- Restricted-travel tests that simulate ice and snow packing are done for 100,000 cycles at -40 degrees F to ensure assemblies do not crack, break or distort in extreme winter weather.
- A series of carefully calibrated impact and pull tests ensure the overall strength of the assembly.
- Chemical resistance subject assemblies to 16 hour soaks in chemical solutions to ensure appropriate resistance to various fluids they may be exposed to during their service life.
- Environmental exposure tests subject assemblies to a grueling 24 hour salt spray at over 200 degrees F.
- Ford Engineers even test to make sure the blade can be installed and removed with just the right amount of effort.
